Maximising the benefit of hybrid working through better practices


When the COVID-19 pandemic struck in March 2020, companies were suddenly faced with the challenge of transitioning their operations from office-based to remote work, often without the luxury of adequate planning. Kingsley Napley, an internationally-recognised Law Firm based in central London, sought assistance from SNH to equip their management team with the necessary tools to effectively operate remotely while maintaining the highest quality of service for their clients.

 

 


The Challenge

Kingsley Napley had successfully addressed the initial technological and logistical challenges of transitioning their large workforce to remote work during the pandemic. However, they realised that to sustain a remote/hybrid working model in the long term, technology alone would not be sufficient.

The leadership team recognised the need to establish new routines and processes that would not only provide their staff with the necessary tools to perform their jobs, but also instill confidence and security in their new working environment. They turned to SNH to help them and ensure that their staff could thrive in the evolving work landscape.

Incorporating key practices such as our Smart Ways to Manage Remote Teams we provided practical tools and routines to equip participants with the skills needed.

We ensured that the programme was engaging and impactful, providing actionable strategies to establish effective communication channels, enhance productivity, and keep staff focused, motivated, and engaged. Our goal was to help Kingsley Napley's leadership team quickly adapt to managing remote teams and maximise the benefits of remote and hybrid working, while maintaining the quality of service delivered to their clients.

We followed up with further workshops on ‘Managing the Performance and Productivity of Remote Workers’ - which equips leaders to undertake a practical assessment of the barriers to performance - in combination with the final session in the programme, which incorporated our ‘Working Productively from Home’ tool kit. All of this helped to ensure managers were well-equipped to support their teams in a remote/hybrid setting in the long-term.


The Outcome

Managers found the Effective Hybrid Practice invaluable in resetting the rhythm and routine of interactions with their teams, enabling them to provide quality support and leadership despite being remote.

The instant impact of the workshops was evident from feedback, with the practical nature of the tools and tips provided by SNH being relatable, quick, and easy to implement, according to consistent feedback from the management team.
