Welcome to 2019

As 2018 drew to a close we reflected on the progress we’d made throughout the year and have been planning hard for an even better 2019 and we are excited to be sharing our news with you.

Our plan for 2018 was for it to be our biggest charity training year yet and we succeeded.  We doubled our schedule of events and the number of participants throughout the year, as well introduced 2 programmes new to the sector, both of which have been very well received.  We were delighted with the support and engagement of everyone who has participated, so we have committed to the future.

Beyond that, we were also delighted to welcome Penny, Josh and Poppy to the ever growing SNH team.  Together they have brought a wealth of experience and passion to what we do. 

We’ve launched our new website (www.snh.training), gained over 50 new clients (with a number being household global brands), we were judges in the 2018 UK Business Awards and had for the first time run training events in every continent across the globe.

Looking in to 2019 our ambitions are bigger and bolder.  In the charity sector, we want to add more value in useful and creative ways as we develop our proposition.  Plus we would love to get you actively involved.  Read the section on ‘Shaping the Future’ to find out more.

We would like to extend our special thanks to all of our fantastic and loyal customers, especially those who have provided venues and refreshments throughout 2018.  Without their support we couldn’t do what we do.

We hope you enjoy this issue of our newsletter and on behalf of the entire SNH team, we thank you for your support and look forward to working with you again in 2019 for another record breaking and PRODUCTIVE year.

To quantify what we have achieved:

So far we’ve trained over 2,500 employees from over 250 charities.  That’s the equivalent of creating over 92,000 extra working days per annum for the sector.

What’s Planned for 2019

We have been busy planning our event schedule for the New Year and are pleased to release the following information

NEW SmartLeadership

If you apply the Pareto Principle (80:20 rule) to leadership it shows that there a few things which make a big difference to your effectiveness as a leader. If you then take those few or vital, things that leaders must do and work out how to do them in the least possible time you have SmartLeadership. If you introduce SmartLeadership you can free-up the precious time of your leaders or have the option to increase spans of control (without compromising standards or relationships).  In our first module we focus on helping your team to achieve more & managing performance. We share our insights along with a range of practical tools, tips & techniques to help you get the most from the people in your organisation.

NEW SmartNetworking

For those in the front line of charity fund raising, it’s widely acknowledged that fundamental to success is having a great network of contacts who can facilitate introductions for you to the “right people”.

Over the years we’ve captured lots of information and feedback from the sector and have developed SmartNetworking as a way of helping fundraisers achieve more in less time.  During this event, we’ll share a range of tips, tools and techniques designed to make meeting the “right people” quick & easy.  We show you how to make SmartNetworking an enjoyable, rewarding integral part of your fundraising efforts.

 The SNH BOOK is coming

After years of achieving game-changing productivity increases for people, we thought now is the perfect time to share our insights on a grander scale and publish our first book. And our plan is for it to be the most concise & practical book of it’s kind “on the shelves”.

There are countless books on the market covering time management, we know, we’ve read them. However they all seem to have 2 things in common firstly they are too long (over 300 pages typically) certainly when you pick out the useful bits; and secondly they assume every reader’s journey through the book will be from cover to cover.  We’ve chosen a different approach and given the reader a shorter book so it can be read in a faction of the time but importantly it can be tackled in exactly the order the reader wants based on their unique situation.  The exercises and chapters are designed to help people diagnose and fix their productivity challenges quickly and practically.

The book is finished and we are currently reviewing publishing options.  We will keep you up to date on our progress during 2019 but if you have any wisdom or experience of publishing you would like to share, we would love to hear from you: neilmassa@snh.training

Leadership Development and the Apprenticeship Levy – Myth busted!

More and more organisations are looking for employee development paid for by the Apprenticeship Levy but we’ve discovered there is one big myth holding more organisations back from taking the plunge. 

That is that ‘Apprentices’ have to be young people entering the world of work for the first time.  This simply isn’t the case and the Apprenticeship Levy can be applied to developing any staff provided it follows an approved learning pathway. 

We’ve teamed up with a trusted partner who is blending our ‘SmartLeadership’ learning into a much broader 12 or 15 month approved Apprenticeship programme following the ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) Level 3 pathway.

From April 2019, charities who have 10 or more leaders join an Apprenticeship scheme could pay less than £20 per month per person for all their development.

As you’ve already read we’ve been busy writing our new book but also have several new digital productivity tools in development which are designed to identify the natural productivity traits in people and support their development in creative new ways. 

However, we would love to enlist the support of some willing volunteers who would be prepared test these tools and provide us with feedback and insights to make them even better.
